A Little Information on Me and My Music Career

I began my career in the music business in 1950 when I first started taking lessons on the steel guitar.

Before long, I was playing local Jamborees and dances around West Texas and a Saturday morning radio show.

After graduating high school, I served 3 years in the Army, then moved to California where I played the club circuit for a while. But Texas was my home, so I moved back and played with local bands. I toured with Ray Price, Claude Gray, and other major stars, and got to play the Grand Ole Opry. I met my wife, Barbara while working in a band together.

Later on, we moved to Houston when I was offered a job at Gilley’s Club. I spent 5 years playing at Gilley’s in Pasadena, Tx working with Mickey Gilley and Johnny Lee.. During that time, the “ Urban Cowboy” movie was filmed. The band was in the movie and we received a Grammy Award.

I now live in Springfield, MO and am currently playing in Branson for Tim Hadler and the “Hank Williams Revisited” show at the Caravelle Theatre. I also play in a Trio when I am not in Branson.
My 67 year career is filled with wonderful adventures and wonderful people I have met who share my love for the steel guitar.
